Ortelius globally recommended by Gartner as key vendor of a DTO

January 21, 2020 – Malmö, Sweden

In their recently published Market Guide for “Technologies supporting a DTO”, Gartner, the world’s leading research and advisory company, has recommended the Swedish technology company Ortelius as a key DTO vendor of all candidates examined globally.

DTO stands for Digital Twin of an Organization and is a new technology; it helps innovative and tech-savvy leaders to prioritize, guide, plan, monitor, analyze and scale complex business. Or to share Gartner’s definition: “A digital twin of an organization (DTO) is a dynamic software model of any organization that relies on operational and/or other data to understand how an organization operationalizes its business model, connects with its current state, responds to changes, deploys resources and delivers exceptional customer value”.

Gartner recommends leaders to embrace the disruptive potential of a DTO, as one of their key research findings illustrates: Scaling digital business transformation initiatives can turn into an inscrutable jungle. Without a “navigator,” the risk of failure increases dramatically as the scope and pace of the digital business initiative expand.

Marc Kerremans, senior research director from Gartner comments: “Ortelius’ DTO can handle new or changed data, but does not only change this in the mapping, but also in the feeding data component. This is a rarely seen exceptional capability that makes the Ortelius’ DTO truly dynamic.”

Coordinating interdependencies within and across business transformation initiatives is challenging, yet key to success. Ortelius distinguished itself by addressing this challenge early on and developed an enterprise software platform, with supporting methodology, to help organizations become the best at managing complexity and unique collective intelligence. The invention enables integration and interaction of any human and machine generated knowledge. The digitized version of this collective intelligence is captured and available for transformation activities in the DTO. If executed well, the DTO will affect the organization’s market value, competitive edge and ability to vet investments for the right future.

Being called out as a key vendor by Gartner, who actually coined the term Digital Twin of an Organization, is a huge acknowledgment. Ortelius’ CEO, Ulf Jensen states:
“This is a recognition for the team developing the platform throughout the years…as well as for our clients, who demonstrated trust and courage as this affirmation proves we’re all on the right track – we feel very encouraged to continue our journey with many more clients benefiting from our technology”.

Already a number of Ortelius customers are implementing a DTO based on the Ortelius software and methodology, such as a global company within home environment and a global packaging company within liquid food.

Gartner’s research discusses digital twins of organizations, and, more specifically, the technology supporting these DTOs. It describes the market, identifies use cases, highlights key vendors and describes their fit to common-usage scenarios. Gartner sizes the market at about 50 firms that offer support of DTO capabilities in varying degrees.

Ortelius’ DTO can handle new or changed data, but does not only change this in the mapping, but also in the feeding data component. This is a rarely seen exceptional capability that makes the Ortelius’ DTO truly dynamic.
